Shipping Dangerous Goods
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

Shipping carriers have specific guidelines on how to handle shipments containing hazardous materials, which may be restricted or prohibited.

Veeqo supports the shipment of dangerous goods using USPS Ground Advantage within the domestic US. USPS does not support the shipment of dangerous goods to Army, Fleet, and Diplomatic Post Office (APO/FPO/DPO or PTFAS) locations. For more information see USPS Domestic Shipping Prohibitions, Restrictions, & HAZMAT.

Important: As the shipper, it is your responsibility to ensure any order that contains dangerous goods complies with the carrier’s applicable packaging and labeling guidelines. Some carriers have additional requirements, beyond marking your shipment as dangerous goods, such as special packing instructions or paperwork.

How to specify that an item contains dangerous goods

You can specify that an item contains dangerous goods from the orders page or the inventory page.

To specify from the orders page:

  1. Select the Items card

  2. Check the box “This item contains dangerous goods” beside any products that contain dangerous goods

  3. The rate card will update to show services that support the shipping of dangerous goods

  4. Any future orders containing these products will automatically show services that support the shipping of dangerous goods

Note: Marking a product as containing dangerous goods on the orders page will save this to the product details for future shipments

To specify from the inventory page:

Updating product details to mark an item as containing dangerous goods means you will not need to do this for any orders containing the product. There are two ways to update product details to show an item contains dangerous goods:

Manually:

  1. Select the product from the Inventory page

  2. Edit the Shipping Information for the product

  3. Check the box “This item contains dangerous goods” and save

  4. Any future orders containing these products will automatically show services that support the shipping of dangerous goods

In bulk via CSV

  1. Download your products as a CSV from the Inventory page (see this guide for more information)

  2. Update the “Dangerous Goods” column to “True” for any item that contains dangerous goods

  3. Upload the CSV to the Inventory page

  4. Any future orders containing these products will automatically show services that support the shipping of dangerous goods
